Russia's missile terror continues in Ukraine every day. Megacities and the power grid are under the gun of Russian missiles and drones. Two Russian strikes on Kharkiv over the past 24 hours have left one person dead, dozens injured, including children aged 3 months, 1.8 years, 10 and 13 years, and partially destroyed and damaged 18 residential buildings, a hospital, an educational institution and a playground.
"Kharkiv. Russian terror against the city is becoming particularly vile. Attempts to drive more than a million people into a blackout, constant attacks by missiles and Shaheds. Now - air bombs. Just on an ordinary street, on houses, schools, ordinary civilian infrastructure. At the moment, we know about one casualty. My condolences to the family and friends," President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The Russians fired a new projectile at Kharkiv - UMPB D-30, Kharkiv police chief Volodymyr Tymoshko told Suspilne.
"It's a cross between a CAB and a missile. The final conclusions will be made by explosive experts. This ammunition is powerful enough to actually destroy two houses between which it hit, and several houses at a distance," Tymoshko said.
According to the investigation, on 27 March at around 15:50, Russian armed forces shelled residential areas in the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kharkiv.
One man was killed, and 19 people were wounded, including four children aged three months to thirteen years. A number of high-rise buildings, medical facilities, cars, a school, a kindergarten and other civilian infrastructure were damaged.
According to preliminary data, the enemy fired two D-30 UMPBs (unified interspecies planning munitions, 30 cm calibre). This is the first time that the Russian armed forces have struck a city with this type of munition. The munitions were fired from an aircraft.
After that, Russia launched a nighttime attack on Kharkiv with Shahed drones: at 00:15, Russians attacked the Kyiv district of Kharkiv with drones. Civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged: a restaurant, a shop, and office premises. Windows were smashed in nearby residential buildings. There were no casualties. The head of the Kharkiv regional administration, Oleh Syniehubov, posted this on Facebook.
As a reminder, on 22 March, Russian troops launched a massive attack on the critical infrastructure of the Kharkiv region - for more than a day, the city had no electricity, heat, water and partially no communication. After that, hourly blackout schedules were introduced for Kharkiv.
