A Russian missile strike in Odesa on the afternoon of 15 March killed 14 people and injured 46 others. The head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper, said this in a message on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"As a result of the Russian missile attack, 14 people were killed, including local residents, a doctor and a rescuer. Another 46 people, including seven employees of the State Emergency Service, were injured," the statement said.

It is noted that the medics and rescuers were injured during a second strike on the city after they arrived at the site of the first missile.

"Today, as a result of a Russian missile strike on the city of Odesa, civilian infrastructure was damaged. A fire broke out at the site of the hit. Rescuers from the State Emergency Service immediately arrived at the site of the strike and began extinguishing the fire, clearing the rubble and searching for victims. During the work, the enemy launched a second missile attack, killing the rescuer," the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service in Odesa Oblast reported.

The head of the regional administration noted that the victims are being provided with all the necessary assistance, and all relevant services are eliminating the consequences of the enemy attack.

Meanwhile, local media reported that today's shelling was the largest in terms of casualties in Odesa since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. As reported, the Russians attacked Odesa in the afternoon of 15 March with a series of ballistic missile launches from the territory of occupied Crimea. The attack lasted about 45 minutes, and explosions were heard in the city.

16 March was declared a day of mourning in Odesa region.

As a reminder, in March, Russia committed another war crime in Odesa - on 2 March, a Russian attack on civilian infrastructure and residential buildings in the city killed 12 people, including five children.
