Belgium Launches €150M Recovery Project to Support Ukraine’s Reconstruction

Belgium has officially launched a €150 million international assistance initiative to support Ukraine’s recovery, as part of the broader BE-Relieve Ukraine project, The Gaze reports, citing the Ministry for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine.
The program, implemented by Belgium’s development agency Enabel, will run through 2028 and focus on critical infrastructure, healthcare, education, and European integration reforms.
According to the Ministry, the project reflects a long-term partnership between Ukraine and Belgium. “BE-Relieve Ukraine is not just technical assistance. This project is aimed at a partnership between Ukraine and Belgium in the reconstruction of our country,” said Deputy Minister Kostiantyn Kovalchuk.
The initiative will support both national efforts and regional recovery, with targeted aid to the Kyiv and Chernihiv regions and the city of Kyiv. Key priorities include:
• Energy modernization: mobile boiler systems, decentralized power, and delivery of 212 generators for schools.
• Healthcare rehabilitation: reconstruction of hospitals and inclusive social services.
• Education & employment: upgrading school infrastructure and promoting collaboration between business and vocational training institutions.
• European integration: supporting reform implementation and closer ties with Belgium.
BE-Relieve Ukraine aligns with the TEAM EUROPE approach — a coordinated EU effort to support Ukraine’s recovery amid ongoing conflict.
The initiative complements a larger €1 billion aid package announced by Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever during his recent visit to Kyiv.
