Black Sea Security, Military Assistance, Energy: Ukraine's New Foreign Minister on First Visit to Romania
Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha arrived in Romania on his first foreign visit as part of a regional tour and met with his Romanian counterpart Luminita Odobescu.
The ministers made the announcement on Platform X.
Sybiha said they discussed energy sustainability, Black Sea security, and military assistance.
‘We are very grateful for the Romanian Patriot system. We continue to work together to promote the Peace Formula. We agreed on mutual respect and the best European standards in protecting national minorities of both countries,’ he said.
‘It is an honour for me to welcome Andriy Sybiha to Bucharest on his first foreign visit since his appointment,’ the Romanian Foreign Minister wrote.
Odobescu noted that she reaffirmed Romania's support for Ukraine against the backdrop of Russian aggression and Romania's readiness to support Ukraine on its path to EU membership.
‘Romania remains committed to further developing our bilateral strategic partnership in the interests of our citizens and to protect the rights of people belonging to the minorities of both our countries,’ she added.
As announced by the ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the visit to Bucharest is the first stop on Andriy Sybiha's regional tour.
On 5 September, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine voted to appoint Sybiha as foreign minister to replace Dmytro Kuleba. Prior to that, since April 2024, he was the First Deputy Foreign Minister, and before that, the Deputy Head of the Presidential Office.
As The Gaze previously reported, after his appointment, Andriy Sybiha held his first telephone talks with Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski.
