The Bulgarian government has approved a decision to provide Ukraine with a new package of military aid. The contents of the package remain classified, as reported by the Bulgarian government portal.

According to the announcement, the decision regarding the "new package of military and military-technical assistance" to Ukraine was approved by the Council of Ministers of Bulgaria on Friday, June 23.

"The approved list of weaponry and assistance is comparable in volume to the aid provided by the first package, granted by the temporary government decision of December 22, 2022," the Bulgarian government stated.

They also emphasized that the provision of the aid package "will not compromise the standards of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Bulgaria and their combat readiness."

"The second package of military aid to Ukraine is very similar in volume to the first one sent by the temporary government," said Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov after speaking at the Fourth Sofia Economic Forum on Tuesday, as reported by BTA.

He stated that any criticism directed at the current government is demagoguery.

The military assistance being sent from Bulgaria to Ukraine is classified, but lawmakers have access to the information. Denkov noted that the assistance will be delivered over the course of several months.

Denkov also mentioned that the temporary government showed no interest in the prospect of involving the Bulgarian defense industry in the production of artillery shells with corresponding NATO standards and investments.

Back in November 2022, the Bulgarian Parliament supported a resolution on providing military and technical assistance to Ukraine. Unofficially, the former pro-European government under Kiril Petkov allegedly supplied ammunition and weapons worth over one billion dollars to Kyiv.

The new pro-European government of Bulgaria has previously confirmed its support for military aid to Ukraine.

Last week, Bulgarian Defense Minister Todor Tagarev stated that the country is preparing a new package of military aid for Ukraine in the face of full-scale Russian aggression.

"It involves investments, European investments, in expanding our capacities and modernizing our defense industry," said Bulgarian Defense Minister Todor Tagarev.

He added that Bulgaria and the Black Sea region will have security when the last Russian occupant leaves Ukraine's borders, and the aggressive intentions of the Kremlin are blocked.

Furthermore, Bulgaria recently discovered and blocked 400 websites with Russian propaganda and fake news.
