Canada to Deliver Over 1 Billion CAD in Weapons to Ukraine

In September, Ukraine will receive more than 1 billion Canadian dollars’ worth of weapons from Canada, including drones, ammunition, and armored vehicles.
The Gaze reports on it, referring to Ukrinform and The Mirror of the Week.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced this additional aid to Ukraine during Independence Day celebrations in Kyiv.
"At the G7 summit in June, Canada pledged an additional 2 billion (Canadian dollars) in military aid. Today, I am proud to announce that more than $1 billion of this amount will be used to strengthen your arsenal of weapons by supplying drones, ammunition, and armored vehicles, which will arrive next month," Carney said.
The Canadian Prime Minister emphasized that his country will always stand with Ukraine, as they are linked by common historical ties.
In addition, he stressed that peace with Russia requires constant monitoring and restraint, and Ukraine must be strengthened for future security.
“When peace comes, we must strengthen Ukraine, lay the foundation for readiness. ... Peace can never be taken for granted. And this is a reminder for Canadians as well,” Carney emphasized.
He announced that Canada would also allocate tens of millions of dollars for medical assistance, bomb shelters, and strengthening democracy in Ukraine, particularly in the area of cybersecurity.
“And as co-chair of the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children, Canada will strengthen its cooperation with Ukraine, European partners, and the United States to ensure the immediate and unconditional return of Ukrainian children,” the Prime Minister noted.
At the same time, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte expressed his gratitude to the Canadian government for providing another package of military aid to Ukraine.
“Grateful to Canada - PM Mark Carney just announced funding for a package of US military equipment for Ukraine,” he said, adding that NATO allies continue to supply the necessary equipment so that Ukraine has everything it needs to defend itself and achieve peace.
The Gaze previously informed that Canada has pledged nearly $15 million to bolster the maintenance and repair of Leopard 2 tanks used by Ukraine during the 29th Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting.
