‘Coalition of Willing’ Supports Ceasefire as Condition for Peace Settlement

At a meeting in the Czech Republic on 25 April, the countries of the so-called ‘coalition of the willing’ reaffirmed the need to guarantee a ceasefire in Ukraine before negotiations on a longer-term peace settlement begin.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to the Czech Foreign Ministry's post on social media X.
As noted, representatives of the ‘coalition of the willing’ agreed that ‘a complete ceasefire is necessary to start serious negotiations on a peaceful settlement in Ukraine’.
‘We must put pressure on Russia to unconditionally agree to such a ceasefire,’ the Czech Foreign Ministry added.
In addition, representatives of the ‘coalition of the willing’ also expressed interest in further US involvement in peace efforts and noted the current role of the UK, France and Germany.
They also stressed that they remain ‘committed to supporting Ukraine in accordance with the principles of European security’.
As The Gaze reported earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expects the US to take ‘strong steps’ if Russia refuses to abide by the ceasefire.
