Trump Says He Wants Peace Deal, Not Truce

US President Donald Trump reported on the results of his talks with the Russian president in Alaska and said that he prefers to talk about a ‘peace agreement, not a truce.’
The Gaze writes about it, referring to his post on the social network Truth Social.
Trump reiterated that he believes the meeting with Putin ‘went very well’ and that it was a ‘great and very successful day.’
‘The meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin went very well, as did the night-time phone call with Ukrainian President Zelensky, a number of European leaders, including the highly respected NATO Secretary General,’ the US president said.
‘Everyone agrees that the best way to end this terrible war between Russia and Ukraine is to immediately work on a peace agreement that would end the war, not just a ceasefire, which is often not observed,’ Trump continued.
He confirmed that he would receive Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the Oval Office in the afternoon of 18 August.
‘If everything works out, then we will plan a meeting with President Putin,’ the US president added, without specifying whether he was referring to a bilateral or trilateral format.
Prior to this, the media learned that Trump allegedly told Ukraine and Europeans that Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin wants to immediately discuss the terms for ending the war, rather than a pause in hostilities, and Trump believes that this would be better.
After the meeting in Alaska, Trump said that he had agreed with Putin on an exchange of territories and that ‘Zelenskyy must accept this.’
He also announced new negotiations with the Kremlin leader and said that he would participate in a meeting between Zelenskyy and Putin, if it takes place.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that he would fly to Washington on Monday, 18 August, for talks with Trump.
