Comedy Wildlife Awards 2024 Names 40 Finalists, Winner to be Announced in December
Lions in love, flying penguins, cute raccoons, smiling seals, a funny squirrel and fighting polar bears are all in this light-hearted competition of finalists for the Nikon Comedy Wildlife Awards, which will be announced on 10 December.
The full gallery of finalists can be viewed on the competition website.
With nearly 9,000 entries from 98 countries, the awards continue to highlight the wonders of wildlife while promoting an important conservation message. The public had the chance to get involved by voting for the People's Choice Award, where one lucky winner could win a whopping £500. Voting for the People's Choice Award was open from 26 September to 31 October.
Each year, the competition supports a sustainable conservation organisation, and the Whitley Fund for Nature has been selected for 2024. The UK-based charity supports conservation leaders from across the southern world. Awards co-founder Tom Sullam said it had been an ‘incredible year’ for the competition.
‘It's an honour to be part of this exciting journey that makes us all laugh and raises our awareness of animal conservation,’ said Sullam.
The overall winner, category and high commendation winners will be announced on Tuesday 10 December at the awards evening in London. This will be followed by a magnificent exhibition for one week from 10-16 December, showcasing the photos from all of 2024.
