Czech Republic Commits CZK 10 Million for Ukrainian Rehabilitation Center

The Czech Republic will allocate 10 million Czech crowns (approximately $440,000) to fund the purchase of specialized medical equipment for a new rehabilitation center under construction in Uzhhorod, western Ukraine.
The Gaze reports this, citing a post by Myroslav Biletskyi, Head of the Zakarpattia Regional Military Administration.
The initiative supports the development of the "4.5.0. Recovery Center," a major rehabilitation facility being built through a joint effort by Ukraine’s Ministry of Health and the World Bank.
The project, which Czech partners have backed since its inception, is among the most significant humanitarian collaborations between the Czech Republic and the Zakarpattia region since the onset of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
“This is a substantial contribution,” said Biletskyi. “State-of-the-art equipment will enable the center to deliver high-quality care to both veterans and civilians recovering from severe injuries.”
The center will serve patients with spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, burns, and those undergoing prosthetic rehabilitation.
Designed to offer both inpatient and outpatient services, it will feature 100 beds and the capacity to treat up to 500 patients at once.
Construction is taking place on the grounds of a former maternity hospital, which will be fully renovated and repurposed.
The total area of the facility will exceed 8,000 square meters. The rehabilitation center is part of the broader HEAL Ukraine initiative, with overall project costs estimated at $10 million.
As The Gaze reported earlier, Czech PM Petr Fiala has reaffirmed his country’s steadfast support for Ukraine, specifically emphasizing cooperation to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense and its ability to counter Russian drone attacks.
