Czech Republic Completes Delivery of 1.8 Million Ammunition Rounds to Ukraine
The Czech Republic has fulfilled its commitment to supply Ukraine with 1.8 million rounds of large-caliber ammunition.
The Gaze reports this, citing a statement by former Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala on X.
He said the pledge, made earlier in 2025, had now been fully met. Fiala described the delivery as a crucial contribution to Ukraine’s defense as it continues to resist Russia’s full-scale invasion.
The announcement comes amid domestic political debate in the Czech Republic, where parties involved in forming a future governing coalition have questioned the scope of continued military support for Ukraine.
Earlier, Czech President Petr Pavel argued that backing Kyiv remains in the Czech Republic’s national interest, even beyond moral and ideological considerations.
“Even if we set aside solidarity and the defense of values, supporting Ukraine makes sense from a purely pragmatic perspective,” Pavel said, stressing that military assistance to Ukraine strengthens Europe’s long-term security.
Pavel also linked continued support for Ukraine to future economic opportunities, noting that countries assisting Kyiv today would be better positioned to participate in Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction.
“Supporting Ukraine now is not only about future security guarantees,” he said. “It is also about economic opportunities that will arise when Ukraine’s recovery begins.”
The Czech Republic has emerged as one of Ukraine’s key suppliers of ammunition, alongside the United States and the United Kingdom, helping to offset critical shortages as Kyiv faces sustained Russian attacks.
As The Gaze previously reported, Ukraine is expected to become the first country to trial a new Czech-made long-range cruise missile capable of reaching deep into Russian territory, including Moscow.
