Denmark Reaffirms Commitment to Ukraine with €225 Million for Mykolaiv Region

Denmark continues to actively support the recovery of Mykolaiv Oblast, Ukraine, announcing investments of over €225 million in the development of the region's infrastructure, education, and healthcare as part of a new three-year program for 2025–2028.
The Gaze reports on it, referring to a post by the Mykolaiv Oblast State Administration on Facebook.
On September 16, a meeting of the Steering Committee of the Mykolaiv-Denmark Partnership was held in Mykolaiv, dedicated to summarizing the results of three years of cooperation and planning projects for 2025-2028.
During the meeting, the priorities of Denmark's new Transition Program for Ukraine (UTP 2025-2028), aimed at restoring and strengthening the infrastructure of the Mykolaiv region, were discussed. The total budget of the program is DKK 2.8 billion (approximately €375 million), of which more than €225 million will be allocated directly to Mykolaiv and the region.
The event was attended by First Deputy Minister of Community and Territorial Development Alona Shkrum, heads of the Mykolaiv Regional Council and Regional State Administration, the mayor of Mykolaiv, representatives of the Danish authorities and international organizations NEFCO and UNOPS.
Danish State Secretary for Foreign Affairs Elisabeth Sondergaard Krogh emphasized: “Denmark remains committed to providing both urgent humanitarian aid and long-term recovery and reconstruction, as well as supporting democratic and institutional reforms.”
Among the first projects in the Mykolaiv region are the modernization of water supply and energy systems, the reconstruction of schools and kindergartens with the installation of shelters, support for healthcare and vocational education, the development of agriculture and small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as mine action.
Vitaliy Kim, head of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration, emphasized the importance of such a partnership.
“I sincerely thank the people of Denmark and your team for supporting the Mykolaiv region. Your three-year strategic program is an important example for our region. Denmark is our main partner, and I am convinced that Ukrainians can and know how to achieve results,” he said.
As The Gaze reported earlier, despite Hungary's resistance to Ukraine's accession to the EU, Denmark is developing measures to support reforms and further progress in the negotiation process.
