Documentary Festival "War in the Lens" Starts in Ukrainian Capital
Today, the War in the Lens documentary festival starts in the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv. The programme includes the premieres of the documentary films Shields of Kyiv and Journalist in Uniform. The audience will also see a film by Andriy Rizol from the Culture vs War documentary series and a feature film by Akhtem Seitablayev, Peaceful 21, according to the festival's organiser, the Public Relations Service of the Territorial Defence Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (TRO Media).
The festival will begin with an award ceremony for the winners of the competition, announced in April. The organisers of the competition aim to recognise the authors of the best publications, interviews, video, photo and radio reports (podcasts) about the struggle of the Ukrainian people against the aggressor country Russia, the national resistance, heroism and victory of Ukrainian soldiers in the face of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine on 6 June, on the occasion of the Journalist's Day 2024. The competition is open to materials published or aired from 1 April 2023 to 22 April 2024.
The journalistic materials submitted to the War in the Lens competition will be evaluated by the jury, which will include former journalists who are currently serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

For security reasons, admission to all festival events is subject to mandatory pre-registration. The exact time of the events will be announced only to the registered participants on the eve of the festival.
The festival will last until 9 June.
