Drone Strikes Ammunition Depot in Russia’s Tver Region: Fire Rages, 18 Earthquakes Recorded
A drone has hit an ammunition depot in the Tver region of Russia, causing a large-scale fire to break out, partially evacuating the population, and sensors recording 18 earthquakes.
Ukrinform reports this with reference to local media, which claim that the UAV attack was aimed at an ammunition depot. Explosions were heard in the city and a fire broke out.
The Tver Region authorities stated that air defences were repelling a massive UAV attack in Toropets, and it was decided to partially evacuate the population from the area where air defences were fighting and extinguishing the fire.
A series of earthquakes began at around 4 a.m. local time on the night of Wednesday, 18 September. It is noted that the magnitude of the earthquakes, which were detected within 2.5 hours, ranged from 2 to 3.2 on the Richter scale.
Meanwhile, NASA's FIRMS orbital fire monitoring system records a large-scale fire in the area of an ammunition depot that was hit by a drone.
