Britain is investing £600 million in providing Ukraine with new defence capabilities to strengthen its air defence, British Defence Secretary John Healey said at a meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group.
According to Sky News, Healey said that Kyiv would receive ‘air defence systems, missiles and automated turrets to shoot down drones’.
‘Ukrainians continue to fight with tremendous courage, both military and civilian,’ he said.
According to the British Defence Secretary, these investments are crucial in helping to protect Ukrainian cities, villages and critical infrastructure from Russian attacks.
‘Together with this group of 50 partners, we are working to provide vital support for Ukraine's defence, to put it in the strongest position to secure peace,’ he said.
Ukraine's energy system is in critical condition following a series of Russian attacks. The situation is particularly challenging in the Odesa and Chernihiv regions.
