Estonian Acrobat Crosses Bosphorus from Asia to Europe on Tightrope for the First Time in History
Estonian acrobat Jaan Roose walked a distance of more than one kilometre from Asia to Europe on a rope suspended over a bridge across the Bosphorus Strait at an altitude of 165 metres above sea level.
This was reported by the Turkish TV channel TRT World.
Roose managed to cross from the Asian continent to the European continent in 47 minutes on a 1,074-metre special rope over the Martyrs' Bridge on 15 September.
It is noted that the Estonian acrobat became the first person to make a transcontinental crossing on a rope.
‘The Bosphorus has thousands of years of cultural value and incredible natural beauty. Combining this with variable weather conditions and strong sea currents, it has become a unique place for a tightrope crossing. I'm very happy to have made this historic crossing,’ said Jaan Roose after completing the course.
The event was organised with the support of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and the Turkish General Directorate of Roads.
