Eurovision Organisers Choose the City to Host Song Contest
The Eurovision Song Contest Organising Committee has announced the city in Switzerland that will host the next contest. The choice fell on Basel, where the first semi-final will start on 17 May 2025.
This is reported on the official website of the contest.
According to the organisers, they chose between several options. In particular, the Swiss city of Geneva was also considered. However, Basel was the final choice. They say that they took into account the peculiarities of the infrastructure, as well as the potential to accommodate a large number of tourists, delegations, etc.
Traditionally, Eurovision is held in the country that won last year.
As The Gaze previously reported, Switzerland won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2024. The main award went to Nemo for their song The Code. Ukraine took third place.
