Exhibition of Evacuated Works by Ukrainian Genius Maria Prymachenko Opens at the Lithuanian National Museum of Art
An exhibition of Ukrainian artist Maria Prymachenko's 'I Give You Sunshine Art' has opened at the Lithuanian National Art Museum in Vilnius. The paintings were evacuated from the Zaporizhzhia Regional Art Museum from the collection of works by Maria Prymachenko.’ The exhibition is accompanied by an extensive educational and excursion programme. Here you can not only get acquainted with the work of the world-famous Ukrainian artist Maria Prymachenko, but also develop your imagination and try to recreate her fantastic world on your own under the guidance of a curator. For example, to draw fantastic animals that you will not see in a zoo, but only in a fairy tale or in a dream. These animals have features of different fish, animals, birds. Each age group will be offered to try a particular technique at the workshop.
‘The project was implemented by the Zaporizhzhia Art Museum and the Lviv National Art Gallery. It can rightly be called Ukrainian cultural diplomacy - we have jointly opened an epoch-making exhibition of the Ukrainian genius Maria Prymachenko,’ said Taras Vozniak, Director General of the Lviv National Art Gallery.
The National Art Museum of Lithuania continues to cooperate with Ukrainian museums and helps to evacuate valuables from the country where the Russian war has been going on for three years in a row. The collection of works by one of the most famous primitive artists, Maria Prymachenko, is a national treasure of Ukrainians.
In June, it became known that Lithuania would restore 100 paintings by Maria Prymachenko. The Centre's restorers have previously examined and restored more than 50 paintings and 1,000 graphic works from Ukrainian museums, and another 600 works are expected in the near future.
