With the new digital platform Chapter Ukraine, readers, libraries, and bookstores abroad can now easily search, select, and recommend Ukrainian books available in translation.

The Gaze reports on it, referring to Chytomo.

The service allows users to explore curated lists of titles, create personalized selections, export them with order details, and share them directly with cultural institutions in their communities.

Chapter Ukraine was launched to provide comprehensive information about Ukrainian books translated into foreign languages. The project was developed by Craft and Chytomo in partnership with Snig.digital, Kavi.Agency, PEN Ukraine, and the Ukrainian Book Institute.

Currently, the platform features carefully prepared lists of Ukrainian books in English, German, and Spanish

Each selection follows strict criteria: professional translation quality, availability in print and for purchase, reviews from readers on platforms like Goodreads, coverage in international media, and reliable distribution channels.

“Our goal was to create a convenient tool for libraries, bookstores, and cultural institutions abroad to discover and promote Ukrainian literature in translation. Until now, Ukraine lacked a single accessible source that systematically represented translated books, despite growing demand,” said project co-curator and Chapter Ukraine creator Kateryna Kazimirova.

She added that the team is already working on integrations with library and distributor services to make it easier to locate and purchase editions worldwide.

The platform also highlights publishers, translators, distributors, reviews, awards, and media mentions.

According to Chytomo development director Iryna Baturevych, demand for Ukrainian literature in translation has grown rapidly.

“After the launch of Translate Ukraine and translation grants from House of Europe, the number of translations multiplied. In 2023, the surge in translated titles was called a breakthrough, but the process hasn’t slowed — in just the first half of 2025, more translations appeared than in all of 2023,” she said.
