Expert Forecasts Bad and Good Scenarios for Trump-Zelenskyy Meeting

Washington has stated that only a large country can make demands, while a small country must comply. They do not understand that a large country does not always win wars, even if it has nuclear weapons. The meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump, scheduled for today, could end in either a bad or a good scenario, said political analyst and president of the Policy Analytical Centre, Oleh Lisnyy.
The Gaze reports on it, referring to the FREEDOM TV channel broadcast.
‘There have been cases, and more than once, when a small state defeated a large one or, at least, did not allow the large one to win. Just look at Afghanistan, which broke the teeth of both the Soviet Union and the United States. And this is an example that happened not so long ago, especially for Americans,’ he said.
Lisnyy emphasised that Ukraine must work with what it has and clearly communicate its position. And the big plus is that Kyiv is doing this collectively with European countries and their powerful diplomatic leaders.
‘We need to understand that today will not be easy, but there will be no disaster, in my opinion,’ the political scientist said about the upcoming meeting between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and White House chief Donald Trump.
He also predicted several possible scenarios for the meeting between the leaders of Ukraine and the United States.
"I will outline a negative and a positive scenario. Negative: Zelenskyy communicates with Trump, Trump becomes upset, leaves, and does not even meet with European leaders. That is all for the negative scenario. Now for the good one. Zelenskyy, having experience of communicating in the Oval Office, which is tough and very useful for the future, engages in constructive dialogue. Yes, it is not easy, yes, Trump is trying to put pressure on him, he will definitely do so, trying to compensate for his defeat in Alaska with tough actions against Ukraine. It is not working, but there is no conflict, and they are engaging in communication with European partners. And this is what impresses me the most, if it continues to develop in this way," Lisnyy suggested.
According to him, Zelenskyy had good communication with Trump in Rome, when the Ukrainian president was able to ‘reprogram’ the head of the White House for a long time.
‘There is another good case — the NATO summit, where experienced European politicians, plus Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian team, were able to communicate quite constructively and achieve certain results. So I still want the second scenario to happen,’ the political scientist added.
As The Gaze reported earlier, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, arrived in Washington for scheduled meetings with the US President and European leaders.
