Russia Conducts Nuclear Drills Following Postponed Putin-Trump Summit

Russia conducted large-scale exercises with strategic nuclear weapons after postponing the summit between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, sending a clear signal of its unwillingness to seek peace.
The Gaze reports on it, referring to Reuters.
The test included the launch of a ground-based intercontinental ballistic missile “Yars” from a cosmodrome, the launch of a ballistic missile “Sinyov” from a nuclear submarine in the Barents Sea, and the launch of cruise missiles capable of carrying nuclear weapons from strategic bombers.
Such actions are a regular practice for Russia to demonstrate its nuclear forces and remind its opponents that it has the world's largest nuclear arsenal.
“The exercises tested the level of preparedness of the military command and the practical skills of operational personnel in organizing the management of subordinate forces,” the Kremlin stated.
The Gaze previously reported that the meeting between Trump and Putin was supposed to take place in the Hungarian capital, Budapest. However, the Russian side later refused to discuss a specific date for the meeting.
On Tuesday, Trump noted that he did not want to hold a meeting that would be a “waste of time.”
Nevertheless, Russia said on Wednesday that it was still preparing for a potential summit between President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump, although no date has been set.
