Film About Ukrainian Military Women Wins Two Awards at Brussels Film Festival

The documentary film 'Cuba & Alaska' by director Yegor Troyanovsky received two awards at the Brussels International Film Festival (BRIFF).
The Gaze reports on this with reference to Ukrinform.
Troyanovsky's film received two awards in the ‘Directors' Week’ programme, namely the jury prize and the audience award, according to the BRIFF website.
The film's world premiere took place at the Sheffield DocFest international documentary and interactive media festival in the United Kingdom, which ran from 18 to 23 June this year.
The documentary tells the story of two Ukrainian female soldiers with the call signs Cuba and Alaska. These women are best friends and skilled paramedics on the front lines in Ukraine, experiencing a story common to all soldiers: the longer they defend Ukraine, the more they lose touch with their friends, family, and former lives.
The film is a co-production between Ukraine, Belgium and France by 2BRAVE PRODUCTIONS, TAG FILM and CLIN D'OEIL FILMS. The film's producers are Olga Bregman, Christian Popp and Hanne Flipo. The project received support from the Ukrainian Film Academy's post-production grant programme in partnership with Netflix. Green Light Films is the film's distributor in Ukraine.
