Finland to Supply Ukraine with Ammunition Using Frozen Russian Assets

Finland has become one of the participants in the EU programme to provide military assistance to Ukraine at the expense of the proceeds of Russian assets frozen in Europe - 90 million euros are earmarked for this purpose.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to the Finnish Ministry of Defence.
Finland has been selected as one of the countries that will participate in providing assistance to Ukraine at the expense of the proceeds of frozen Russian assets.
The agreement with the European Commission stipulates that Finland will provide Ukraine with large-calibre ammunition. The ammunition will be purchased from the Finnish defence industry and paid for with proceeds from frozen assets that will be transferred through the European Peace Fund - a total of €90 million.
Defence Minister Antti Häkkänen noted that the scheme both provides jobs for the Finnish defence industry and supports Ukraine.
"This new package, along with our €660 million national support programme, will help build a stronger link between the Finnish defence industry and Finland's support for Ukraine. This is a great example of what the Finnish defence industry is capable of, and it shows that our investments in production capacity are paying off," he said.
As The Gaze reported earlier, Finland's Ministry of Defence is launching a new programme to support Ukraine by increasing orders for its own defence industry. The government will consider the Ministry of Defence's budget proposal for additional funding of the Finnish defence industry by EUR 660 million to support Ukraine.
