On July 16, the foreign ministers of Ukraine, Poland, and Lithuania will meet in Lublin, Poland, to mark the fifth anniversary of the creation of the Lublin Triangle – a regional alliance aimed at strengthening cooperation in the political, economic, and cultural spheres.

The Gaze reports this with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland.

As part of the visit, Ukraine’s Andrii Sybiha, Poland’s Radosław Sikorski, and Lithuania’s Kęstutis Budrys will lay a wreath at the monument to the Union of Lublin. The three foreign ministers will then hold a joint press conference.

The Declaration on the establishment of the Lublin Triangle was signed on July 28, 2020. The parties agreed to hold regular consultations at the level of foreign ministers and confirmed their intention to deepen political, economic, social, and cultural cooperation between Ukraine, Poland, and Lithuania.

Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba emphasized the importance of this alliance for Ukraine: “The Weimar Triangle once helped Poland return to European politics. Today, the Lublin Triangle is returning Ukraine to the space of Central Europe, to which it has always historically belonged.”

It is worth mentioning that in 2023, the Presidents of Ukraine, Lithuania, and Poland signed a Joint Declaration following the Second Summit of the Lublin Triangle in Lviv.

The document reaffirms the historical ties between the three countries and sets out priorities for cooperation, including support for Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic integration.

Lithuania and Poland reaffirmed their intention to continue providing military, technical, and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine, and expressed support for the establishment of an international tribunal for Russian aggression and for the expansion of the Grain Initiative to strengthen global food security.
