French Interior Minister Receives Letter with Plague Virus - Media
Unknown persons sent a letter with the plague virus to the French Ministry of the Interior addressed to the head of the department, Gérald Darmanen.
This was reported by Le Parisien.
It is noted that a letter addressed to Darmanen was found at a post office in a sorting centre in the Côte d'Or department.
The parcel contained a fine black powder. Experts tested the powder at the Nuclear, Radiological, Biological, Chemical and Explosives Police Unit and found the presence of the plague virus.
The contents of the letter were sent for another examination, and the final results are expected in the evening of 29 July.
The Dijon prosecutor's office has launched an investigation into the matter.
As The Washington Post previously reported, in early July, a white powder was found on the territory of the US presidential administration. According to the results of laboratory analysis, it turned out to be cocaine.
