Germany Summons DPRK Ambassador Over North Korean Troops' Involvement in Russia's War in Ukraine
The German Ministry of Foreign Affairs has summoned the Chargé d'Affaires of North Korea amid reports of the DPRK's troops being involved in Russia's war against Ukraine. This was reported by the German Foreign Ministry on the X network.
‘Today, the Federal Foreign Office summoned the chargé d'affaires of North Korea,’ the statement said.
According to the ministry, the DPRK's support for Russia ‘directly threatens Germany's security and the European peace order.’
‘If the reports of North Korean soldiers in Ukraine are true, and if North Korea is now supporting Russia's war of aggression in Ukraine with troops, this would be a serious violation of international law,’ the German Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Earlier, US Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin said there was evidence that North Korean troops were in Russia, but what they were doing there was still unknown.
The European Commission said that if reports of North Korean soldiers being deployed to Russia to take part in the war against Ukraine are confirmed, it will be new evidence of Russia's lack of interest in peace.
