Germany’s Daimler Truck to Supply Ukraine with 1,000 Zetros Military Vehicles

German manufacturer Daimler Truck has received a major order to deliver around 1,000 upgraded Zetros military trucks to Ukraine, expanding the country’s logistical and tactical capabilities.
The Gaze reports this, referring to Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
According to the media, Daimler Truck has adapted its Zetros all-terrain model to meet the demands of modern warfare, including the conditions of Ukraine’s high-intensity “drone war.”
“Daimler Truck is equipping its Zetros off-road truck for the ‘drone war.’ And quite successfully: Kyiv has ordered around 1,000 such vehicles to meet the needs of its troops,” the German outlet noted.
The Zetros is a heavy-duty military truck designed for operation in challenging environments, capable of carrying fuel, evacuating wounded soldiers, and delivering supplies and personnel to front-line positions.
Known for its durability and off-road performance, the Zetros platform has become a valuable logistical asset for armies around the world, and is now increasingly integral to Ukraine’s defense mobility strategy.
Daimler Truck has already delivered over 200 Zetros trucks to Ukraine in previous shipments, though the company has declined to comment publicly on the latest order. The new batch, reportedly worth hundreds of millions of euros, will be financed in part through European Union defense support programs.
Earlier, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced that Berlin would finance the production of Ukrainian-made long-range weapon systems and would impose no restrictions on their range of use, marking a major policy shift in Germany’s approach to Ukraine’s defense.
“This is the beginning of a new form of military-industrial cooperation between our countries,” Merz said. “It will strengthen Ukraine’s right to self-defense and enhance Europe’s collective security.”
The Zetros line, already in use by NATO members and UN peacekeeping forces, is being retooled to accommodate advanced communications, counter-drone systems, and off-grid energy modules. These features are regarded as critical enablers for effective operations across Ukraine’s dispersed and technology-driven front line.
