Iranian President and Foreign Minister Killed in Helicopter Crash in Azerbaijani Mountains
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian were killed in a helicopter crash the day before.
This was reported by the Iranian Mehr news agency on Monday morning.
A helicopter carrying President Ibrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and other passengers crashed in a dense forest in eastern Azerbaijan on Sunday.
"The helicopter's passengers, including Ebrahim Raisi, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the governor of Iran's East Azerbaijan Province Malek Rahmati, and Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Al-Hashem, the representative of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution in East Azerbaijan Province, along with several other people, were killed in the incident," the report said.
Another Iranian news agency, IRNA, quoted the head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS), Pir Hossein Kolivand, as saying in a television commentary that no one was found alive at the site of the helicopter crash.
"No signs of life were found after the helicopter crash site was established," he said.
Earlier, Reuters, citing Iranian media, was the first to report that the helicopter with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi on board had made a "hard landing" in the mountains.
As previously reported by The Gaze, an attempt was made on the life of Prime Minister Robert Fico in Slovakia after a government meeting in Handlove on Wednesday. He was taken to hospital with injuries. The operation was successful, and his life is no longer in danger.
