Italy Invests €200 Million in Rebuilding Ukraine’s War-Damaged Power Grid
Italy is investing €200 million to rebuild Ukraine's power grid damaged by Russian attacks. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy Antonio Tajani during the plenary session of the Italian-Ukrainian Business Forum in Rome, Ukrinform reports.
‘We want to work on rebuilding Ukraine during the war and have decided to invest 200 million euros so that Ukraine can rebuild the power grid destroyed by Russian attacks. Because we cannot allow ‘General Winter’ to become an ally of Russia,’ Tajani said.
He expressed hope that Italian companies would participate in the reconstruction of Ukraine, while ‘Ukrainian companies are also expected in Italy’.
‘This business forum... is not limited to reconstruction. Because we are betting on something more. We must not forget that Ukraine is a candidate country for EU membership and will be part of the common European market. Therefore, we must prepare opportunities for cooperation,’ the Italian Vice Prime Minister said.
The day before, on 20 November, the plenary session of the Italian-Ukrainian Business Forum was held in Rome, which is a preparatory event for the Ukraine Recovery Conference to be held in Rome on 10-11 July 2025. The event was organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy together with the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine.
