Kellogg Rejects Kremlin Claims That U.S. and Ukraine Are Stalling Peace Talks

Keith Kellogg, the U.S. The Special Envoy for Ukraine, has dismissed Kremlin accusations that the United States and Ukraine are obstructing efforts to end Russia’s full-scale invasion, placing the blame squarely on Moscow for delaying meaningful negotiations.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to Kellogg’s post on social media platform X.
Kellogg responded to Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, who earlier claimed that the future of peace talks depended on the positions of Washington and Kyiv.
Peskov also insisted that any settlement must reflect “realities on the ground,” a euphemism frequently used to justify Russia’s military gains.
“Peskov’s recent comments on the state of negotiations are Orwellian,” Kellogg wrote. “Russian claims that it is the US and Ukraine stalling peace talks are unfounded.”
Kellogg emphasized that President Trump remains committed to securing a just and lasting peace and has consistently advocated for de-escalation.
“President Trump has been consistent and adamant about making progress to end the war. We urge an immediate ceasefire and a move to trilateral talks to end the war. Russia cannot continue to stall for time while it bombs civilian targets in Ukraine,” Kellogg stated.
The envoy’s comments come amid renewed tensions over the future of the diplomatic track between Moscow and Kyiv. While Russian officials have claimed readiness to continue talks, their actions tell a different story.
The last round of negotiations, held on June 2 in Istanbul, produced only limited humanitarian agreements. According to the Ukrainian diplomats, Russia submitted a memorandum that contained a series of non-negotiable ultimatums, undermining the chances of serious progress.
Despite this, Russian President Vladimir Putin has said the Kremlin is open to another round of discussions with Ukrainian representatives.
Ukrainian officials swiftly rejected Peskov’s remarks as manipulative. The Office of the President accused Moscow of sabotaging peace initiatives while continuing its attacks on civilian infrastructure.
