Trump Announces Israel-Iran Ceasefire After Deadly Missile Strikes

U.S. President Donald Trump announced a “Complete and Total Ceasefire” between Israel and Iranfollowing nearly two weeks of escalating hostilities that killed dozens, including four civilians in Israel just hours before the announcement, The Gaze reports.
In a dramatic statement on his Truth Social account, Trump declared:
“CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE! It has been fully agreed by and between Israel and Iran that there will be a Complete and Total CEASEFIRE… for 12 hours, at which point the War will be considered, ENDED!”
Trump referred to the conflict as the “12 Day War,” claiming the truce would begin after both sides concluded ongoing military operations and would culminate in a 24-hour mutual ceasefire.
“This is a War that could have gone on for years, and destroyed the entire Middle East, but it didn’t, and never will!” he added, offering blessings to Israel, Iran, the U.S., and “the world.”
Tehran confirmed initial agreement to a ceasefire, but Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi expressed skepticism over its permanence.
“If Israel stops its illegal aggression against the Iranian people no later than 4 a.m. Tehran time, Iran has no intention of continuing its response,” Araqchi wrote on X. “The final decision on the cessation of our military operations will be made later.”
According to sources familiar with the talks, Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thanihelped broker Tehran’s acceptance of the ceasefire during a direct call.
Simultaneously, U.S. Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and special envoy Steve Witkoff maintained open channels with Iranian officials throughout the negotiations.
While both Israeli and Iranian missions remained silent, multiple Israeli officials reportedly told the U.S. they were preparing to wind down military operations. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered cabinet ministers to refrain from public commentary, according to Channel 12.
The ceasefire follows major Israeli airstrikes targeting Iranian nuclear facilities, launched amid U.S. concerns over Iran’s nuclear program. Tehran denies pursuing nuclear weapons, though Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei recently warned that “world leaders wouldn’t be able to stop us” if Iran decided to build them.
Financial markets responded positively to the ceasefire announcement. S&P 500 futures rose 0.4% late Monday, suggesting optimism for Tuesday’s market opening. U.S. crude oil prices dropped to their lowest level in over a week, reflecting reduced fears of supply disruption in the Middle East.
As The Gaze previously reported, Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed strong support for the recent United States military strikes against Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, issuing a detailed statement condemning Iran’s actions and drawing attention to its support for Russia’s war against Ukraine.
