Kyiv to Host European Defense Tech Hackathon for the First Time

Kyiv will host the first European Defense Tech Hackathon, a 48-hour technology hackathon that will bring together engineers, military personnel, and companies to create innovative defense solutions.
The Gaze reports on it, referring to Militarnyi.
The event will take place from November 6 to 9 and will attract more than 200 participants, including engineers, technology companies, foundations, and the military.
The main focus will be on developing solutions to counter drones, and the tasks for the teams will be set by the Ukrainian military, Moodro, and event partner Nordic Air Defense.
In addition to the hackathon itself, the program includes lectures, workshops, and project presentations.
European Defense Tech Hub (EDTH), the event organizer, notes that the goal of hackathons is to accelerate the development of defense technologies by attracting talented and motivated people, as well as bringing together the public sector, business, and scientists for joint innovation.
“After more than 20 events in 15 European countries, we are going to Kyiv, a city that has become a hub for defense innovation and ambitious people. We believe that a secure future is possible thanks to the Ukrainian army, technology, and partnerships. We look forward to seeing you there!” said the European Defense Tech Hub.
Since the beginning of 2024, EDTH has held similar events in European cities, attracting more than 2,000 participants and solving more than 150 real defense challenges in cities such as Munich, London, Paris, Lviv, Copenhagen, Warsaw, and Amsterdam.
As The Gaze reported earlier, at the Defense Tech Valley 2025 conference in Lviv, four international companies announced plans to invest over $100 million in the development of Ukrainian defense technologies, emphasizing Ukraine's role as a key center of innovation in the defense sector.
