Macron Finally Fired Prime Minister Whom He Had Asked to Remain at the Head of Government
French President Emmanuel Macron has accepted the resignation of Prime Minister Gabriel Attal, whom he had previously asked not to rush to dismiss and remain head of government for some time.
This was reported by BFMTV.
Earlier, immediately after the parliamentary elections, Macron refused to accept Attal's resignation. Then the president asked him to temporarily remain as head of government.
From now on, Attal and other ministers will remain in an acting capacity until a new government is appointed. After that, he will continue to work as a deputy in the new National Assembly and head the faction of Macron's political party.
Attal has been heading the government since 9 January, replacing Elizabeth Born. Attal, 34 at the time, became the youngest prime minister in the history of modern France.
Earlier on Tuesday, it became known that three of the four forces from the left-wing New People's Front bloc had decided on a candidate for the post of prime minister.
As The Gaze previously reported, the left-wing New People's Front won a landslide victory in the early parliamentary elections in France, with the presidential party coming in second and the far-right National Rally and its allies in third.
Following the announcement of the election results, French President Emmanuel Macron asked Prime Minister Gabriel Attal to remain in office for the time being to ‘ensure the stability of the country’.
