Media Report on U.S. Proposal to Russia Regarding Conflict Resolution

Following the visit of Donald Trump's Special Representative Steve Witkoff to Moscow, Vladimir Putin's aide Yuri Ushakov announced that Russia considers the proposal to be in line with its interests.
The Gaze reports on it, referring to Onet and Reuters.
According to Ushakov, an agreement has been reached on a meeting between the US and Russian presidents, which will take place next week. The venue for the talks has already been decided, but is not yet known.
"At the suggestion of the American side, an agreement was essentially reached to hold a bilateral meeting at the highest level in the coming days, that is, a meeting between President Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump," Kremlin aide Ushakov said.
He also said that concrete preparations for the summit with the U.S. are underway and the venue has been agreed, with sources suggesting it might be the United Arab Emirates.
The Polish media reported that the US proposals include:
-
a ceasefire in Ukraine, but not peace;
-
de facto recognition of Russian-occupied territories by postponing this issue for 49 or 99 years;
-
the lifting of most sanctions imposed on Russia and, in the long term, a return to energy cooperation, i.e., the import of Russian gas and oil.
At the same time, according to the publication, this package of proposals does not contain guarantees that NATO will not expand, which the Russians have consistently demanded.
Moscow has also received no promises that military support for Ukraine will be discontinued. However, it is reported that the latter point is apparently acceptable to the Russians.
As The Gaze informed earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump is preparing for a potential meeting with Vladimir Putin as early as next week, as part of a renewed diplomatic push to end the war in Ukraine, with European leaders showing openness to the plan and the possibility of a follow-up summit including President Zelenskyy.
