Moldova and Romania Agree on Partnership and Innovation in Energy and Clean Technologies
The Ministers of Energy of the Republic of Moldova and Romania agreed to develop partnership and promote innovations in the energy sector and signed a Memorandum on Thursday, 24 October. The document stipulates that the parties will make efforts to ensure a competitive and innovative environment in the energy and clean technology sector in both the Republic of Moldova and Romania, ZDG writes.
‘With this memorandum, we are adding another area of cooperation with Romania, this time in the field of innovation. Following the adoption of the law on the development of innovative solutions in the energy sector, known as the Sandbox, this memorandum will help create opportunities for financing innovative solutions, feasibility studies, as well as new business models in the field of innovation in the energy sector. We are grateful to Romania for its ongoing support in strengthening energy security, adapting energy exchange to the European model and, of course, for all the transformations that bring us closer to the European market. These changes, which are already significantly improving the comfort of consumers, would not have been possible without the unprecedented support of friends across the Prut,’ said Minister Viktor Parlikov.
The Ministry of Energy writes that Victor Parlicov expressed gratitude to his Romanian counterpart for Romania's constant support and underlined the Republic of Moldova's desire to continue connecting its energy system with the Romanian one and integrating into the European energy market, which is the goal set by the end of 2029.
‘I would like to note that all the projects in the energy sector between Romania and the Republic of Moldova are vital, whether it is the construction of energy interconnectors or the consolidation of gas transit capacities through the Iaşi-Ungheni pipeline, and now we want to cooperate in the field of innovation to be able to combine the possibilities of innovation. The Republic of Moldova can be considered a real example in terms of innovation and digitalisation. There is no better recipe for success than combining the capabilities of the energy sector with innovation and start-ups. This memorandum is not just an agreement, the document signed today creates a basis for financing start-ups, including those across the Prut,’ said Sebastian Burdua, Minister of Energy of Romania.
