More Drones, Air Defence for Ukraine - Norway Allocates €48 million in Military Aid
The Norwegian government will allocate NOK 570 million (about €48 million) to the International Fund for Ukraine (IFU) for the purchase of drones and air defence equipment.
This was reported on the government's website.
‘Ukraine has an urgent need for more military equipment to protect itself from Russian aggression. Together with other countries, Norway will do its best to contribute,’ said Defence Minister Bjørn Arild Gram.
The purpose of the UK-led fund is to provide military assistance to Ukraine. Norway has already contributed NOK 1.8 billion to the IFU starting in 2022. Along with the UK, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Lithuania, Australia, New Zealand and Iceland, a total of more than NOK 12.5 billion has been allocated.
In June, Norway announced that it would send Ukraine ammunition worth approximately NOK 480 million.
In May, Ukraine signed a security agreement with Norway. It was reported that this year, Norway would provide Ukraine with at least NOK 13.5 billion (about EUR 1.2 billion) in military assistance. In total, Norway has allocated almost EUR 6.4 billion for 2023-2027 in the long-term Nansen Programme to support Ukraine.
