Russia Doubled the Number of Strikes on Ports in 2025: Ukraine Strengthens Protection of Logistics Hubs
The network of mobile shelters is being expanded in ports.
The Gaze reports on it according to Dzerkalo tyzhnia.
Russia intensified its attacks on Ukraine's port infrastructure in 2025. So far this year, 90 combined strikes have been recorded, which is twice as many as in the same period last year, according to Deputy Prime Minister for Recovery and Minister of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine Oleksiy Kuleba.
"Russia is actually hitting Ukrainian ports with missiles and drones every day, trying to destroy logistics, complicate exports, and undermine global food security... In the Odesa region alone, there have been almost 800 air raid alerts since the beginning of the year, with a total duration of more than 30 days, or more than a month," Kuleba said.
Despite the constant threat, hundreds of port workers, energy specialists, and other professionals ensure the smooth operation of logistics and the stability of maritime routes every day. Under these conditions, the priority task has been to create a network of shelters directly at workplaces, which is critically important during ballistic missile attacks that can reach their targets in a matter of minutes.
“Together with the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority and with the support of our partners, we are expanding the network of mobile shelters in all ports of Odesa and Mykolaiv regions. We have already installed more than 50 mobile structures to protect people. We are also increasing the number of stationary shelters—today there are more than 30 of them in seaports,” said the Deputy Prime Minister.
According to him, a separate area of work is strengthening the direct protection of the ports themselves. “We are working on this every day together with the military. For security reasons, we are not disclosing details, but we are working systematically with the Armed Forces in cooperation with other services and international partners,” the statement said.
Oleksiy Kuleba emphasized that despite daily shelling, Ukrainian ports continue to operate and maritime logistics remain stable.
