NATO Secretary General: Russia Could Be Prepared for Military Action Against Alliance in Five Years

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has issued a stark warning that Russia is rapidly advancing its military capabilities and could be ready to take military action against NATO member states within the next five years.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to European Pravda.
In a speech at Chatham House in London, Rutte detailed how Russia's military production is set to escalate, positioning the country to challenge the security of the Alliance in the near future.
Rutte underscored that Russia's defense production is increasing at a pace that could soon surpass NATO's capabilities.
“In five years, Russia will be in a position to deploy military force against NATO,” he asserted. “The pace of their military expansion is accelerating, and their capacity to produce weapons and bolster their armed forces is greater than anticipated, particularly through the use of Chinese technologies.”
The NATO leader compared Russia's growing weapon stockpiles to the Alliance’s production, revealing that Russia manufactures more munitions in three months than NATO does in an entire year.
“This year, Russia is expected to produce 1,500 tanks, 3,000 armored vehicles, and 200 Iskander missiles,” he noted, highlighting the scale of Russia's military buildup.
Rutte also pointed out the enhanced capabilities of Russia’s missile systems, which now travel at speeds that exceed the speed of sound.
In a later discussion, Rutte acknowledged that a prolonged ceasefire in Ukraine would allow Russia to further stockpile weapons, posing an escalating threat to NATO.
He agreed that once a stable ceasefire is achieved, Russia would have the opportunity to increase its military reserves, intensifying risks for the Alliance.
“This is a matter of fact,” Rutte stated, confirming that the accumulation of Russian arms would only increase the threats facing NATO in the future.
