New German Chancellor to Make First Foreign Visit to Ukraine

The future German Chancellor Friedrich Merz may is likely to make his first foreign visit to Ukraine in early May.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to FREEDOM.
According to the German media, it is known that the trip is being prepared and may be dedicated to the summit of the “coalition of the resolute” on May 9 in Kyiv. Visits by French President Emmanuel Macron and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk are also expected.
This will be Friedrich Merz's first official visit in his new position. He previously visited Ukraine in December 2024, when he was still head of the opposition.
As The Gaze reported earlier, recently, Friedrich Merz has said that Germany is prepared to send Taurus long-range missiles to Ukraine.
Merz condemned Russian missile strike on Sumy which killed at least 35 civilians “a serious war crime,” stressing that Kyiv must be supported in order to “get ahead” in the war.
Asked whether he would deliver the Taurus missiles long requested by Ukraine, Merz said he would be willing if coordinated with European allies.
European officials have responded positively to this statement.
