Zurich Officially Declared Europe's Friendliest City
Many travellers pay attention to key factors such as weather forecasts, local cuisine, tourist landmarks and holiday budget when planning a journey. Yet, the friendliness of a city is often overlooked.
To assess European cities for friendliness, Bounce company conducted a study, ranking European cities based on a variety of factors, from crime rates and happiness to LGBTQ+ acceptance.
While friendliness may seem difficult to measure, Bounce has managed to publish an intriguing ranking.
Topping the list is Zurich, Switzerland with a friendliness score of 9.89/10. Having earned a perfect AAA rating for LGBTQ+ acceptance, along with high happiness levels and low crime rates, this Swiss city appears to be the friendliest destination in Europe.
Switzerland's capital is a popular spot for those seeking outdoor relaxation in the mountains and families fond of exploring historical architecture. Zurich has the highest happiness index of all the cities we examined, 7.54 out of 10. Moreover, Zurich surpasses all other countries when it comes to fear of pickpocketing, with only 13% of visitors being worried about becoming robbery victims.
This Swiss city also provides an inclusive society for LGBTQ+ visitors. The Zurich Pride Parade is expected to draw thousands of visitors on June 17th, thanks to its famed street parties and lively atmosphere.
Next on the list is Copenhagen, largely due to its happiness levels and LGBTQ+ acceptance.
Munich ranks third, apparently due to its extraordinarily low crime rate.
