Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz, shared a photo showcasing him wearing an eyepatch after sustaining an injury during a weekend jog. He playfully anticipated the reactions of social media users. The corresponding post appeared on the Chancellor's Twitter account.

The photo also revealed minor facial abrasions on the Chancellor.

"When something bad happens to you... Can't wait for the memes. Thanks for the well wishes, it looks worse than it actually is," Scholz wrote on Twitter, attaching a picture of himself wearing the eyepatch, which he affectionately referred to as the "pirate" eyepatch.

According to the official government spokesperson, Steffen Hebestreit, Scholz will have to wear the eyepatch for the next several days and weeks. He emphasized that despite the circumstances, Scholz feels well.

Scholz, an avid jogger, briefly suspended his duties on Sunday after a fall during a Saturday jog. A medical examination was necessary following the incident.

After the Chancellor's photo with the "pirate" eyepatch surfaced online, a variety of memes began to circulate, largely centered around pirate themes (which is unsurprising).

To recap, Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz, rejected calls for increased federal spending financed by debt to stimulate economic growth, asserting that the country possesses favorable conditions for development despite ongoing economic fragility. According to Scholz, the largest economy in Europe is well-positioned to secure its place in the "upper league" in 10, 20, and 30 years. The leader of the Social Democrats emphasized that Germany should not be underestimated as a business hub; quite the contrary, it holds promising economic prospects.

Earlier, it was reported that the German government had spent almost €55,000 on hairstyling and makeup for former Chancellor Angela Merkel since her departure from office in 2021. The federal government covers expenses for Merkel's hairstyling and makeup for both public and private events. Currently, she has presented a bill of €17,200 for 2023 and €37,780 for 2022. Despite stepping down from the highest office in Germany nearly two years ago, Merkel continues to submit invoices to the federal government for specific expenses. Merkel no longer employs her former makeup artist; instead, she relies on a new hairstylist-makeup artist, who also works as a fashion designer.
