Over Half of Poles Support Expelling Russian Ambassador from Poland
More than half of Polish citizens (51.3%) are convinced that Russian Ambassador to Poland Sergey Andreev should be expelled from the country.
These are the results of a survey conducted by United Surveys on behalf of Wirtualna Polska.
The publication notes that the issue of declaring the Russian ambassador persona non grata unites both supporters and opponents of the current government.
According to the newspaper, when asked whether the Russian ambassador should be expelled from Poland, 26.6% of respondents said ‘definitely yes’ and 24.7% said ‘rather yes’.
The opposite opinion was expressed by 29.8% of respondents. In particular, 4.5% said ‘definitely not’ and 25.3% said ‘rather not’. Meanwhile, 18.9% have not decided on the matter.
The survey was conducted on 25-27 October using a mixed method on a sample of 1,000 Polish adults.
As a reminder, in late October, Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski announced that - due to the confirmed subversive and sabotage activities of the Russian Federation in Poland and allied countries - he had decided to close the Russian consulate in Poznan and expel its staff from the country.
Poland withdrew its consent to the operation of the Russian Consulate General in Poznan due to its participation in the preparation of sabotage both in Poland and in European countries. The Russian consulate staff were declared undesirable persons in Poland. Russian diplomats from the Consulate General in Poznan will leave Poland by 30 November.
