Poland Again Scrambles Fighter Jets as Russia Launches Another Wave of Airstrikes on Ukraine

Poland deployed its air force early Monday morning in response to intensified Russian aerial attacks on Ukraine, marking the second consecutive night of heightened military alert along NATO’s eastern flank.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to Poland’s Operational Command’s post on social media platform X.
In the statement, Operational Command of Poland’s Armed Forces warned that residents in the southeastern part of the country could experience elevated noise levels due to the increased activity of both Polish and allied fighter jets.
“Due to intensified operations in Polish airspace, residents in the southeast may notice a higher level of noise,” the notice read, adding that all necessary procedures had been activated to safeguard national airspace.
The Polish military emphasized that this latest alert follows renewed activity by Russia’s long-range strategic aviation, which has resumed launching missile strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure. “This was the second extremely tense night for our air defense system. All forces remain on high alert and fully prepared to respond,” the Operational Command stated.
NATO aircraft stationed in the region were also reportedly mobilized as part of standard defensive measures.
Meanwhile, across the border, Ukraine endured yet another massive aerial assault. Overnight, Russian forces launched a combination of drone swarms and missile strikes, targeting several regions, which were hit for the third night in a row. Ukrainian air defense systems were activated in multiple areas to intercept the barrage of drones and cruise missiles launched from Russian strategic bombers.
On May 26, the massive overnight attack across Ukraine killed civilians in multiple regions, including Mykolaiv and Kharkiv. Drone and missile strikes hit residential buildings and industrial sites, underscoring the human toll of Russia’s ongoing campaign against civilian infrastructure.
As The Gaze reported earlier, on May 25, Poland scrambled its fighter jets and placed air defense systems on high alert following a large-scale Russian missile and drone assault on Ukraine overnight.
