"Western Countries Should Strengthen Sanctions Against Russia and Transfer Long-Range Missiles to Kyiv to Eliminate Launch Sites in Russian Territory," stated Radoslaw Sikorski, Poland's Minister of Foreign Affairs, in a Former Twitter Post.

"We must respond to the latest attack on Ukraine in a language understood by Putin: by reinforcing sanctions to prevent his production of new weapons from contraband components, and by providing Kyiv with long-range missiles allowing them to destroy launch pads and command centers," he wrote.

Sikorski was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland last month after a pro-European party alliance led by Donald Tusk won the parliamentary elections on October 15. The new Prime Minister promised to consolidate support for Ukraine among allies and end Poland's isolation within the European Union.

As reported, on January 2, the Russian army again attacked Ukraine with missiles and kamikaze drones named 'Shahed.' The main target was Kyiv. The enemy launched a large number of cruise missiles at the capital, as well as 10 hypersonic 'Kinjal' missiles, which were shot down.

In total, air defense forces managed to shoot down 72 out of 99 Russian missiles. Despite the effective work of the air defense, there are casualties in Kyiv and several regions. At least five people were killed, and over 100 were injured.

Previously, on December 29, 2023, Russian troops carried out the largest missile attack on Ukraine, launching about 110 missiles of various types. Over 40 people were killed, including 30 in Kyiv.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba called on Western countries to accelerate the supply of air defense systems and ammunition to Ukraine. He also requested the provision of combat drones and long-range missiles to the country.
