President of Ukraine Arrives in Brussels for EU Leaders' Meeting on Security Guarantees, Strengthening the Armed Forces, and Air Defence Systems
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Brussels today to take part in a meeting of the EU Heads of State and Government in the format of the European Council.
‘Now I am in Brussels. Important negotiations with our European partners are ahead. Europe needs a strong position for the sake of a lasting peace. And every fundamental issue that concerns Europe - and the end of Russia's war against Ukraine is certainly such an issue - requires coordinated and effective work of European countries,’ Zelenskyy said.
According to him, during this visit, he will meet with the leaders and heads of government of France, Germany, Italy, Denmark, the Netherlands, Poland, the Czech Republic, the NATO Secretary General, the President of the European Council and the President of the European Commission, as well as representatives of the UK and other countries.
The President of Ukraine will take part in the meeting of the European Council.
‘We are strengthening Ukraine and our entire Europe. I am grateful to everyone who helps,’ Zelenskyy said.
Earlier, the President of Ukraine said that the key topics of the talks in Brussels over the next two days would be security guarantees, strengthening the Ukrainian army and the provision of air defence systems.
On 19-20 December, a meeting of EU heads of state and government in the format of the European Council will take place in Brussels. The situation in Ukraine and developments in Syria will be among the main topics of the meeting.
