Ryanair Calls for Strict Limit on Alcoholic Drinks at European Airports
Irish airline Ryanair proposes to restrict the sale of alcohol at European airports, allowing passengers to buy no more than two drinks in hand. This is reported by The Guardian.
Ryanair is calling on European authorities to introduce new rules to avoid excessive alcohol consumption by passengers before boarding a plane.
Airlines already have the right to deny boarding to people who, in their opinion, are in a state of severe alcohol intoxication. However, Ryanair proposes that alcohol should be sold at airports only upon presentation of a boarding pass, as is already the case in duty-free shops.
‘During flight delays, passengers often consume excessive amounts of alcohol at airports without any restrictions on purchase or consumption,’ Ryanair said.
According to the airline's employees, the main problem is not so much the consumption of alcohol on board, but rather the fact that passengers drink excessively at the airport and then demonstrate uncontrollable behaviour during the flight.
