Romanian Parliament to Consider Allowing Army to Shoot Down Drones over Country in Peacetime
The Romanian Parliament will consider a bill that would allow the country's Armed Forces to shoot down drones in peacetime.
This was reported by Reuters.
Romanian lawmakers plan to consider the bill at the next session. It is expected to allow Romania to shoot down drones that invade the country's airspace in peacetime.
On the night of 25 July, Russia attacked Ukraine using 38 drones. On the same day, the Romanian Ministry of Defence announced that they had found the wreckage of a Russian drone near the village of Plauru in Tulcea County.
On 20 August, the Romanian military again reported that the remains of a Russian drone had been found near the village of Periprava in Tulcea County - near the border with Ukraine.
On the night of 8 September, as The Gaze previously reported, a group of Russian army attack drones that attacked Ukraine at night again violated Romanian airspace. The Romanian Ministry of Defence confirmed that a Russian drone entered the country's national airspace and probably crashed on its territory. During the attack, Romania deployed F-16 aircraft.
