A new massive shelling of the Dnipropetrovsk region from Russia caused a large-scale power outage in coal mines, putting the lives of nearly 3,000 miners who were working underground at that moment at risk.

The Gaze reports on it, referring to a message from the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy on Telegram.

As a result of the Russian attack, eight mines in the region were left without power. There were 2,595 workers underground, who were urgently brought to the surface. Rescuers are working in an enhanced mode, coordinating the evacuation together with the administration of the enterprises.

According to preliminary reports, there were no casualties or injuries. The authorities emphasize that such strikes are part of the Kremlin's deliberate tactics aimed at undermining Ukraine's energy system.

Deputy Minister of Energy Svitlana Hrynchuk stressed that Russia is again trying to leave Ukrainians without light and heat on the eve of winter, continuing its energy terror against the civilian population.

“After being brought to the surface, all miners are being examined by doctors. So far, there have been no complaints of feeling unwell or deterioration in health,” stated DTEK, the largest private energy company in Ukraine.

The Dnipropetrovsk region is one of Ukraine's key centers for coal and other mineral extraction, supplying fuel to the country's industry and energy sector. It is home to important mines and industrial enterprises that create jobs and support local communities. In the event of a power outage or damage to mines, regional energy security is threatened, and the risks to the lives of thousands of miners and the normal functioning of industry increase.

Russia continues to deliberately target Ukraine’s civilian and energy infrastructure. On the night of October 30, Moscow launched a massive combined missile and drone strike across multiple regions, hitting energy facilities and residential areas in Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Kyiv, and western Ukraine. The attacks caused widespread power outages and highlighted the ongoing threat to critical infrastructure amid the conflict.
