Saharan Dust Cloud Covers Romania and Moves to Ukraine

An air mass with particles of Saharan dust covered Romania the day before and will remain in the country until late Thursday evening, after which it will be over the Black Sea and Ukraine.
"Between 27 March 12:00 and 28 March 22:00, air circulation will contribute to the presence of an air mass saturated with dust particles of Saharan origin over Romania, with higher concentrations recorded in the southwest, south and eastern region," local meteorologists said.
Meteorologists explained that the phenomenon is caused by air circulation from Africa.
"This is a circulation of warm air from northern Africa, accompanied by large amounts of Saharan dust, which crosses the Mediterranean basin and reaches southern, central and eastern Europe. It is a phenomenon that repeats itself every spring and brings Saharan dust particles over our country. If this dust is also associated with precipitation, we will also have its deposition on various objects on the ground, cars, etc.", the meteorologists explained.
Meteorologists also note that Romania will experience rains, especially in the west, southwest, centre and north of the country.
"Dust deposits can be observed, especially in areas and intervals with rain," the Administratia Nationala de Meteorologie (ANM) said. Meteorologists report strong winds and rain in most of the country until Friday evening.
Two yellow codes have been declared in Romania. In mountainous areas, gusts will exceed 90 kilometres per hour.
