`Luxury Watch` that led to Schwarzenegger's Airport Customs Detention Sold at Auction for €270,000
The famous "luxury watch" that recently caused Arnold Schwarzenegger to be detained by Munich customs was sold for €270,000 during a climate charity auction at Stanglwirt in Going on Thursday evening, DiePresse reports.
The third charity dinner at the Stanglwirt raised a total of €1.31 million for the fight against climate change.
During the dinner, Arnie joked about the incident at customs: "I was handcuffed, so I had a hot night with my friend Heather."
The proceeds from the charity auction will go to the Schwarzenegger Climate Initiative, which organises the Austrian World Summit in Vienna every May and supports various global climate projects.
In addition to the Swiss luxury watch, which was designed exclusively for Schwarzenegger and produced in only 20 pieces worldwide, a portrait of Schwarzenegger painted by Christophe Paschke for this good cause was also on display.
Other items up for auction included a painting by skiing legend Franz Klammer, fine whiskey, a concert in TheBossHoss living room, a Governor's Humidor, a sculpture of The Big Kiss by Niklas Castello, a sword from Conan the Barbarian, and a training session with the Hollywood star himself.
In addition to Arnie and his girlfriend, other celebrities appeared on the red carpet before the auction, including Ral Meller, Mark Keller and Nina Proll.
As The Gaze previously reported, Arnold Schwarzenegger was detained by Munich airport customs officials for failing to declare a luxury watch he brought with him on a trip to Austria. The 76-year-old Hollywood star and former governor of California was detained for three hours at the German airport after a routine check of his luggage revealed the undeclared valuable item.
Customs officials are said to have asked Arnold Schwarzenegger very personal questions, including how many children he had, the name of his partner, how much money he had in the bank and details of his net worth.
Schwarzenegger asked why the officials needed to know this, but the officers reportedly insisted that he answer the questions. According to BILD, the actor called his lawyers.
